Furahia Foundation Team is made up with founders, Teachers and either Local or International volunteer with diverse professional backgrounds and a unique passion about caring, teaching and supporting children and the community as well.
We are always open accepting both international and local volunteers who can be part of our team and improve our daily workforce.
Meet the founders!
Cos Cosmas
Founder / Managing Director
Cosmas is the one who brought the Idea of starting Furahia Foundation project in 2017 and It was his dream since 2013.
Because of the financial difficulties it was not easy to start due to disappointment, unfulfilled promises from friends until 2017 when he took it serious and share the idea with his family and ask for help.
It also took another 1 year of hassling and struggling in Mount Kilimanjaro as a porter to make the dream about Furahia come true.
In 2018 his parents decided to support Cosmas by giving their living house as a starting point of Furahia project and from that point the project has been developing each single day.
Cosmas and his sister Aika (Co-Founder) were both supported by Umoja Tanzania (https://www.umojatanzania.org/) which is an NGO based on rescuing and supporting vulnerable Youths from the streets and poor families.
Both are now working together to share and paying back the same support to the community
when Cosmas asked about the Idea of starting Furahia project,
“I want to support young people especially those who are struggling to meet their most basic needs.
As a young man in my community, I feel I have a duty of supporting and caring about others and I founded Furahia project to drive meaningful change and fulfill my passion to help children”.
I want share my knowledge and life experience with children in need.

They are Cosmas and Aika`s parents. This couple are the reason why Furahia is existing now, they are the one who brought the dream about it come true through their unforgettable support of the house and land to start Furahia.
The house where Furahia is was their own house and they gave it for free together with a piece of land so that the project can start.
The secret behind is two of their children (Cosmas & Aika) were supported by the same program they wanted to start.
Both Maria & William were unable to afford to take all their children to school due to financial difficulties and they were more than happy by the support from Umoja and that is why it was so easy for them to support the introduction of Furahia project so that children from the community can get access to school while they are still very young.

Sarah and Michaella both from Austria came to Tanzania for the first time in September 2021 as Volunteers. Since their arrival at Furahia Foundation a lot have changed and they have managed to inspire the transformation of the project including building a kitchen, Security wall and Playground for the children. Not only that they among of the first responder to whatever needed at Furahia. We are really lucky and proud of having them by our side and you can also join them since the need of support for the daily costs, development and expansion of the project is needed
