BACKGROUND

Furahia Mtoto Foundation (FUMFO) is a Charity School founded in February 2018 and officially registered as an NGO in 2019 with Registration No: ooNGO/R/842. “FURAHIA is a Swahili word which means ENJOY / HAPPY”, and “MTOTO is also a Swahili word/name which means CHILDREN”.

The main objective of this organization is to act as a center / home to provide much needed Education and Wellbeing support to underprivileged children from poor / ordinary families, Orphans, Abandoned children, and children who are being raised by single parent, Grandparents or Guardian to create a better foundation for their future lives.

Families who come from difficult backgrounds and situations, such as single and/or unemployed parents, have the opportunity to bring their children to Furahia Mtoto Foundation. Furahia offers a safe and family-friendly alternative environment where the children are being cared for a day while the family members have the opportunity to go to work or get involved in their daily activities and earn income. 

In addition, the children are not only just staying and playing. The kids are taught Maths (counting and basic maths skills), English (letters/alphabet, self introduction and expression and forming simple sentences / conversation), learn social behavior among their peers as well as receiving regular meals (which are not always provided at home).

Also, attendance at the institution is free of charge, parents or relative do not have to pay fees.

CHALLENGES

since Furahia is a non-governmental organization (NGO), it relies on donations to be able to carry on daily expenses which is the most important thing for the existence of this foundation.

At the moment Furahia is supporting more than 75 children whereby 32 children (2.5-6 yrs) are undertaking Kindergarten education at Furahia, 43 children (6-9 yrs) are in either Government or Private primary schools (Class 1, 2, 3 & 4).

Due to financial difficulties, Furahia is only able to support a limited number of children but the real actual number of children who need this kind of support is always higher than what we can afford to provide.

Furahia strive to seek for help and support to this project through Donations, Project sponsorship Program (more beneficial) and Children Sponsorship Program. Our door is open to any individual who wants to support to make a world a better place for these lovely children.
